Black Stars coach Milovan Rajevac has described Ghana’s win over Serbia at the World Cup as the “greatest win” of his career.

Rajevac saw his side beat his compatriots, Serbia 1-0 in their opening Group D match in Pretoria on Sunday. The win was the first by an African side at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa after three other sides from the continent had failed to win their opening games.

Lots of talk had focused on Rajevac’s allegiance prior to the game as he also faced an old friend, Ratomir Antic.

Though he expressed mixed emotions about beating Serbia, the coach was quick to add that he had to do a professional job.

“This is the greatest win of my career but I also feel sorry for Serbia, I saw the anguish on the players’ faces after the final whistle,” he said.

“I had a job to do and I did it professionally but I hope my countrymen win their next two games against Germany and Australia, I wish them the best of luck.”

Ghana plays Australia next in Rustenburg on June 19.
