Claude Le Roy has never doubted the spirit of his team and today, he watched on as Ghana produced the ‘killer instinct’ he had been talking about before the game against Ivory Coast.

Ghana down 2-1 by the 70th minute rallied on to beat the Ivorians 4-2 in the in the third place play-off at the 2008 African Nations Cup on Saturday at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Claude Le Roy said: "My players were fantastic. The Ivory Coast weren't able to kill the game despite their 2-1 lead at half time.

"Today I have to say a big thank you to my team and to the Ghana Football Association for all their support and backing."

Commenting on the game, Le Roy admits Ghana were closing to missing the third-place after finishing the first half 2-1 down.

"We were not far from being completely out of the game by halftime," said Le Roy.

"I told my players that maybe something would happen in the second half because we were still alive... and we tried to sort out what was wrong."

"I'm so happy we have won this game," added the coach.

Sulley Muntari, Quincy Owusu-Abeyie, Junior Agogo and Haminu Draman scored as Ghana finished third for the first time while Sanogo was on target twice in the opening half to give Ivory Coast a 2-1 lead at the break.
