Roma defender Samuel Kuffour is currently training with Sunderland with a view towards a move to the Stadium of Light.
Samuel Kuffour has just returned to Roma following a loan spell at Livorno, but has been told clearly that he is not a part of coach Luciano Spalletti's plans.
The Ghanaian is at the moment looking for a new club, and Roy Keane confirmed today that the defender is training with his squad.
If all goes well, the 30-year-old could move to the Stadium of Light, but Keane has insisted that it will not be in time for Saturday's game against Liverpool.
"Kuffour has been training with us," confirmed the Irishman.
"We are having a look at him and it's good for him to get a look at what we are doing here, but there is no chance of signing him before the weekend."
Kuffour has failed to impress sufficiently at the Stadio Olimpico since moving from Bayern Munich in 2005, with his tendency to lose his cool hardly having helped.
