Kumasi Asante Kotoko have given their league title dream a major boost after an impressive victory against Liberty Professionals in Dansoman.

The Porcupine Warriors started the day four points behind leaders Wa All Stars and three behind arch rivals, Accra Hearts of Oak, but a 2:0 win over Liberty has taken them just a two points behind All Stars with six matches to end the season.

Star man, Dauda Mohammed opened the scoring for Kotoko in the 41st minute before skipper Amos Frempong sealed the victory in the 74th minute.

Leaders Wa All Stars were pipped 1:0 by Ebusua Dwarfs in Cape Coast, but they maintained their lead on the table following the failure of second-placed Hearts of Oak to win in Accra.

Justice Mensah was the hero in Cape Coast  as his 54th minute goal was enough to give Dwarfs all the points against All Stars.

In Accra, Hearts of Oak's jaded home form continued with a frustrating 1:1 draw against Techiman City.

The Phobians needed to win to keep pace with the leaders and Cosmos Dauda's 55th minute penalty appeared to have set the tone for a Hearts win. But the visitors equalised - also through the spot - in the 68th minute, with Isaac Baah converting.

In Dormaa, 3rd place Aduana Stars kept pace with the leaders after a hard-fought 1:0 win over Berekum Chelsea.

The home side grabbed all the maximum points through a 76th minute penalty converted by Premier League leading scorer Yahaya Mohammed. The goal was his 14th of the season.

The win sees Aduana level on points with Hearts of Oak and just a point behind leaders, Wa All Stars.

Defending champions Ashantigold held Dreams FC to a 1:1 draw in Dawu.
Shafiu Mumuni stunned the hosts with a 17th minute opener but Abeiku Ainooson hit back with a penalty equaliser four minutes later.

In the battle of the bottom, Bechem United gave their battle to avoid the drop a huge boost with a 2:0 win over relegation rivals Inter Allies.

Abednego Tetteh scored two second half penalties; 51st and 55th minute for his side.

The win takes Bechem United above out of the relegation zone to 13th, above Inter Allies and Secondi Hasaacas, who have a game in hand against Medeama.

Bottom-placed New Edubiase failed to win at home against WAFA. Their quest for another great relegation escape was frustrated by WAFA, who held them to a 1:1 draw.

Nasir Lamin scored for New Edubiase whiles Komla Agbeniadan was on target for WAFA.
