Champions, Hearts of Oak moved within a point of leaders, AshantiGold after soundly thrashing Hasaacas 5-nil, a result which sends the Sekondi-based side into Division One for the first time since 1989.

With three games go, Hasaacas' 20-year stay in the elite competition can be said to be over but nothing can be confirmed about the two other sides that will join them into relegation.

The Phobians were in imperious form at the Ohene Djan Stadium where a brace each from Mahatma Otoo and Tawrick Jibril with one from Samuel Affum ensured that Hasaacas play in the lower league next season.

But while Hearts mounted the pressure, AshantiGold will rue the missed opportunity to have maintained a three-point lead as they dropped valuable points at home.

The Miners playing at their favourite Len Clay grounds could only draw 1-1 with relegation contenders, Great Olympics.

It came as no surprise when Wonder Boys took the lead with two minutes left before the break when Billa Mohammed fired a shot past goalkeeper Fatau Dauda.

But 15 minutes after the return from the break, the Miners earned a penalty which was dispatched home by Frederick Quayson to help AshantiGold share the spoils.

Aduana Stars also kept their title hopes intact after picking a point off hosts, Heart of Lions at the Kpando Park.

There’s plenty to worry about in the camp of Asante Kotoko after the Porcupine Warriors saw red and ended up losing 0-2 to Berekum Arsenals at the Golden City Park.

A brace by Abdul Sadick dented Kotoko’s failing top-four hopes as the Gunners attacker opened the scoring in the 44th minute with the second coming just two minutes after the break.

Kotoko, who were down by two goals had defender Isaac Owusu sent off in the second half for using his elbow on an opponent.

Kessben FC pushed Eleven Wise further into relegation after winning 3-2 at the Sekondi Sports Stadium. John Antwi and William Owusu scored for Wise but Kessben needed the strikes of Edward Adusei, Bismark Annan’s brace to claim all three points.

All Stars dropped out of the top four following their 0-2 defeat to Liberty Professionals at the Carl Reindorf Park. Liberty needed the services of two foreign imports to claim the spoils.

A goal in each half from Guinean, Capi Foda and Togolese Zakari Moro settled the day for Liberty.

Emmanuel Odoi’s first half strike helped King Faisal to a crucial 1-0 victory past New Edubiase at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Real Tamale United could only draw 1-1 at the Tamale Sports Stadium with Bechem Chelsea.
