The Ghana Sports Medics Association, in partnership with the Ghanaian Society of Cardiology, the Ghana Football School, and other parties, will host a webinar on June 7, 2025, at 7:00 PM on the Google Meet platform: https://meet.google.com/mmi-duuo-rcs. The event aims to create a stakeholder platform for discussing athletes' health and other medical emergencies in sports. It will be graced by the Minister of Sports and Recreation, Honorable Kofi Adams, and the GFA General Secretary, Prosper Harrison Addo.
Key presentations include:
- Collins Kokuro (President of Ghanaian Society of Cardiology & Head of Cardiology Department in KATH): Athletic Heart Syndrome and Cardiac Screening.
- Prince Pambo (CAF Medical Committee Member & FIFA Medical Officer): FIFA's Protocol in Cardiac Screening in youth footballers and Practical Intervention in Sudden Cardiac Attack.
The webinar will feature opening remarks from Dr. Christiana Baah (Acting Chairperson), speaker introductions by Dr. Maamae Fuwaa Antwi-Gyamfi (Black Maidens Team Dr.), Q&A sessions, a panel discussion, and closing remarks from Christiana Pokua (Physiotherapist of Hasaacas Ladies Football Club).
With the support of the GFA and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, the event promises to foster dialogue, share best practices, and enhance the standards of sports medicine in Ghana.
