GFA/FIFA to organize“Live Your Goals Campaign” (LYG) Clinic for Young Girls Under 15

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) in collaboration with FIFA will organize a football clinic for girls under the age of 15 on Saturday September 19 at the Nicholson Stadium in Burma Camp, Accra.

The clinic dubbed the , “Live Your Goals Campaign”, is meant to drag the interest of football into young girls under the age of 15 and also create the avenue for them to have time with some experienced National Team coaches and National Team footballers.

According to the GFA, this clinic will help unearth young and talented players who in turn will help catapult the development of Ghanaian female football to the next level.

Technical Directorate of the GFA has assembled some of the best of national coaches, former national football stars, to help the girls through the programme and all the activities planned for them.

The Live Your Goals (LYG) concept was initiated by football’s world governing body, FIFA, in 2011 during the Women’s World Cup in Germany.

The programme aims at encouraging more females in general, and young girls in particular, to participate, and stay involved in football.

This FIFA seeks to do by encourage its member associations, like Ghana to create more opportunities for females to be able to participate in the game at all levels.

Since 1991, conscious efforts have been made by the Ghana Football Association to develop and promote women’s football.

In 1999 when the senior female national team, the Black Queens qualified for their first Women’s World Cup, the excitement heightened and it has known no bounds since then.

Based on the opportunities that football brings to female footballers, the Ghana Football Association has expressed its enthusiasm at holding its first LYG campaign programme. Selected educational institutions within Accra will parade 10 female pupils who fall within the ages of 10-14 years at the clinic.
