GFA awards Mahatma Otoo, others for 2012/2013 Ghan

The Ghana Football Association has presented belated awards to deserving personalities for the 2012/2013 Ghana Premier League season.

Former Hearts of Oak striker Mahatma Otoo who was the leading scorer for 2012/2013 season was also adjuged as the best player.

Amongst the individuals who received awards at the ceremony held on Tuesday at the GFA Secretariat included former Asante Kotoko coach Didi Dramani who was adjudged the best coach for the 2012/2013 season.

Bernard Morrison who was with Heart of Lions during that season was also awarded as the most promising player.

Other award recipients included Best Referee:William Agbovi,BEST Defender:Rashid Somaila,Best Assistant Referee:A.S.Malik, Best Goalkeeper: Fatau Dauda,

Wa All Stars were also received the Fairplay award belatedly for that season.

All recipients of the awards were given a cash amount of Ghc1,000 plus a plaque and certificate.

In a quick reaction, Norway based striker Mahatma Otoo thanked the Ghana Football Association after he received the prestigious Most League Valuable Player and the topscorer awards for the 2012/2013 Ghana Premier League season.

The former Hearts of Oak forward also expressed gratitude to the GFA for the platform that was given to him to promote his talent across the world with the Ghana Premier League.

“I feel so humble to have been honoured by the Ghana FA and the PLB, they deserve commendations for the unrelenting efforts to put Ghana football on a grand pedestal,” Mahatma said jn an letter sent to the GFA on Tuesday.

“I thank them and wish Ghana soccer all the best.

“For some or most of us where would we have been without this promising launch pad?

“We need it to develop our talents and also realize our potentials.

“I must admit the 2012/13 season was a rather difficult but memorable one for me.

“It’s thus appropriate to express gratitude to those who have played any role(s) in my career development as well; individuals, coaches/clubs, my numerous fans, family and the sporting media etc. God bless you all”, he concluded.
