The Football 4 Girls initiative has made a strong impact in the Tumu-Sissala East Municipality, reaching more than 400 girls across basic schools as part of ongoing efforts to promote grassroots girls' football in Ghana.
Spearheaded by the GFA Technical Directorate in partnership with the Ghana Education Service (GES), the programme represents a significant step toward broadening access, inspiring participation, and nurturing young female talent at the foundational level.
The launch event brought together key stakeholders, including Municipal GES Director Charles Lewil and his team, Upper West RFA Division Two League Board Chairman Mr. Asamoah, the Municipal Physical Education and Sports Coordinator, head teachers, teachers and members of the local media.
During the programme, organisers highlighted the core objectives of the Football 4 Girls project, chief among them the mission to identify hidden talent within basic schools, build confidence among young girls, and encourage them to pursue football without barriers.
Participants took part in physical drills and interactive learning sessions to deepen their understanding of the initiative’s vision. The girls were also introduced to key components of the GFA Women’s Football Strategy.
These strategic pillars were shared to inspire, empower, and guide the girls toward viewing football as both a passion and a potential professional career.
The collaboration between the GFA and GES aims to strengthen the development of women’s football across the municipality and forms part of a broader national agenda to elevate girls’ and women’s football throughout Ghana.
