Pressure has become a normal element in the game but for the Black Stars, each time they take to the field at the African Cup of Nations, the stakes increase.

Ghana are into the last four stage of the African Cup of Nations after knocking out rivals, Nigeria on Sunday at the Ohene Djan Stadium after overcoming all the pressure to cling victory.

From the ordinary man on the streets of Accra, Ghana had to deliver a win over their arch rivals and the Black Stars playing with ten men for a greater part of the second half rose to the occasion to win the game.

However, the stakes continue to increase as Ghana are now a game away from securing a place in the finals of the tournament.

Sulley Muntari, who set up Ghana’s winner over Nigeria, says they are making sacrifices for the nation.

"But we all got together, we're united as a group. We love each other very much, we respect each other and are dedicated to this tournament.

"We want to give our all to our nation."

The midfielder recognises the huge expectation that has engulfed the nation as Ghanaians pray for a place in the final and a record-equalling fifth African Cup of Nations title success.

"There's a lot of expectation for us to do well," Muntari acknowledged.

"We had the same thing in the World Cup in Germany two years ago.

"There's no half measure, we're doing our best to make our supporters happy. That's what we're doing by winning games. The pressure may be on us, but we're through to the semi-finals.

"It was a great win against Nigeria, but that's not our objective, our aim is to win the title."

And when that dream is achieved, Sulley Muntari, who was voted the best player in the game against Nigeria says he would ‘fly’.
