Egypt will host the 2027 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), with the tournament set to take place in November 2027.

Eight nations will compete at the continental tournament after navigating a qualifying campaign scheduled to begin in September 2026.

The Black Meteors are yet to discover their qualification route, with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) yet to announce the pairings.

The U-23 AFCON remains a crucial competition for African nations seeking a place at the men's football tournament of the Olympic Games. The 2027 edition will determine Africa's representatives for the Los Angeles Olympics, scheduled for July 14–30, 2028.

Under CAF's regulations, Africa's allocation has been reduced from three Olympic qualification places to two, meaning only the two finalists of the 2027 U-23 AFCON are expected to secure tickets to Los Angeles.

Ghana have not featured in the men's Olympic football tournament since the 2004 Athens Games, making the 2027 U-23 AFCON a potentially important stepping stone in the nation's quest to return to the Olympic stage.
