The GFA Disciplinary Committee has cleared Captain of Okwahu United, Prince Siaw of charges in respect of their GN Bank Division Match against King Solomon.

The player was charged with offensive behavior for intentionally kicking the Referee of the match after the referee whistled for the end of the match in violation of Articles 56 of the GFA Disciplinary Code.

DEFENCE Prince Siaw in his Statement of Defence pleaded not guilty to the charge and was given an opportunity to appear before the Committee to defend himself against the charge.

PROCEEDINGS AND FINDINGS The Committee examined the depositions in the Charge Sheet, the Statement of Defence, the oral evidence of both Prince Siaw and the GFA Prosecutor, the reports of the match officials and the official video of the said match.

In his oral evidence, Prince Siaw explained that he did not kick nor threaten the Referee because he was rather the one who prevented the other players from approaching the referee, who they felt had disallowed a perfect goal scored by Okwawu United. He urged the Committee to watch the official video of the match which he believed would exonerate him.

The Committee watched the official video of the match but it was inconclusive with regards to the charge. This is a personal liability charge and accordingly, the Committee held the view that for the charge to succeed, the accused must clearly be seen and identified as the very person who committed the offence.

In the circumstances, the Committee was satisfied that Prince Siaw had not breached Articles 56 and 58 of the Disciplinary Code of the GFA. The Committee will therefore not pronounce further punishment on Prince Siaw in addition for his punishment for the red card shown to him at the match.

DECISION

The Disciplinary Committee having satisfied itself that the evidence adduced before it does not support the charge of misconduct against Prince Siaw, hereby dismisses the charge against him.
