Former Ghana international, Anthony Baffoe says the Black Stars duo of Junior Agogo and Anthony Annan were players who stood out for him at the 2008 African Cup of Nations.

Both players were making their tournament debut.

Baffoe, who captained Ghana in the 1992 finals of the tournament together with a host of stars including former Black Stars skipper, Abedi Ayew Pele, Kalusha Bwalya, Marcel Desailly and Roger Milla were reflecting on the just ended tournament hosted by Ghana, gave their candid views to FIFA.com a day after the finals.

Though the others had different picks when the question was posed about who was their revelation at the tournament, Baffoe went for the Ghanaian duo as his choice.

“This isn't just about me being Ghanaian, but I'd say Junior Agogo and Anthony Annan. I didn't expect much from them and they carried our team. Even though I knew about him already, I also enjoyed watching Egypt's Amr Zaki play,” Baffoe said.

For Abedi Pele, it was just nice watching all the big players from the continent though he had special praise for Egypt’s Mohamed Zidan.

“More than any revelation, I enjoyed seeing the continent's big stars playing at the same level as with their clubs. That hasn't always been the case in the past.

“I was also surprised by the attitude of Mohamed Zidan. He's a great player and, without complaints, he accepted that sometimes he'd be on the bench. I take my hat off to him,” the former Ghana captain said.
