The battle for a spot in the 2024/25 MTN FA Cup final reaches a boiling point on Sunday, May 11, 2025, as Asante Kotoko take on Berekum Chelsea in the second semifinal at the TNA Stadium in Tarkwa.

The Porcupine Warriors, nine-time winners of the competition, are determined to clinch the title and secure their passage to Africa. However, standing in their way is a familiar and formidable opponent—Berekum Chelsea, a side that has historically caused them problems.

In four matches, Kotoko have scored seven goals, conceded just one, and kept three clean sheets. Berekum Chelsea, however, have been even more prolific, netting 12 goals and conceding only two. They’ve also demonstrated resilience, winning one of their ties via penalties.

A key subplot in this semifinal clash is the tactical battle between two experienced coaches. Though still relatively young, Berekum Chelsea’s Samuel Boadu is a two-time FA Cup champion and knows exactly what it takes to win knockout ties. On the opposite bench, Kotoko’s Abdul Karim Zito is also no stranger to FA Cup success, having lifted the trophy with Dreams FC. Both tacticians will be aiming to outwit each other in what promises to be a tightly contested affair.

On the pitch, all eyes will be on Berekum Chelsea forward Stephen Amankona, whose creativity and finishing have been crucial to their cup run. Kotoko’s defense must keep him quiet if they are to stand a chance. Meanwhile, Kotoko striker Kwame Poku will be their main attacking threat, and Chelsea’s backline will need to be at their best to neutralize his influence in the final third.

The winner will  face Division One surprise package Golden Kick FC, who secured their spot in the final with an impressive 3-1 win over Attram De Visser on Saturday, May 10.
