The Black Starlets missed out on the bronze medal at the WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship after suffering a 2-0 loss to hosts Burkina Faso in the third-place playoff.

The Starlets were hoping to end their campaign on a high note after missing out on a place in the final, but the hosts proved more clinical, scoring once in each half to secure victory and claim the bronze medal.

Ghana created some promising scoring opportunities during the encounter but failed to convert their chances, with their inability to find the back of the net proving costly against a determined Burkinabe side.

Striker Alidu Issah had a golden opportunity to get Ghana back into the contest but failed to convert a penalty, missing the chance to reduce the deficit before Burkina Faso doubled their advantage.

The missed spot-kick proved a significant setback for the Black Starlets, who had been searching for a way back into the game. Burkina Faso capitalised on their opportunity to extend their lead, leaving Ghana with a difficult task in their pursuit of a comeback.

Coach Kassim Ocansey and his technical team will now turn their attention to the lessons from the tournament as they continue their development and preparations for future international assignments.
