Amed Toure scores brace as Medeama stun Elmina Sharks at home

Amed Toure bagged a brace on his Medeama SC debut to give them a 2-1 win against Elmina Sharks at the Nduom Sports complex on Sunday.

Toure who has formerly played for Asante Kotoko and Bechem United took under five minutes to put his name on the score sheet with a sleek finish.

He got the much needed second goal with a perfectly converted free kick from 20 yards to complete a well-executed job in Elmina to give Medeama only their win on the road.

Medeama continued to probe for more goals with Abass Mohammed and Rashid Rashid Nortey missing begging chances.

The Tarkwa-based displayed a scintillating game was easy on the eyes to the applause of the technical team as they controlled affairs from start to finish.

Benjamin Bernard Boateng pulled parity for Elmina Sharks before the half time mark after Medeama SC melted down after incessant pressure from the home side. The first half ended 1-1.

The two teams continued to press for the winner in what turned out to be a midfield battle.

Amed Toure grabbed the match winner after scoring a beautiful free-kick from 20 yards in the 87th minute to throw the game in favour of the mauve and yellows.

Medeama SC now climbs to the fifth spot with 23 points from 15 matches.
