Ghanaian midfielder Afriyie Acquah is hoping to get a chance with the senior national team, the Black Stars.

The Palermo midfielder who is member of the national U-20 side believes he is ready for the senior team.

“I hope I will get a chance to play for the national team. I got a call to say the coach is watching me and I should be ready as he could call any time. I think I’m ready now,” he told Reuters in an interview.

Acquah, 19, is also dreaming of playing in England. But he is quick to point out that he needs to play majority of the senior team's games before he can win a British work permit.

“Right now I can’t play in England because I’m not playing 70 percent of the games for my national team,” he said.

With a dream of playing in England on hold, Acquah who has regained his place in the Palermo first team is planning of remaining with the Sicilian side for at least three more seasons before making a big move.

“I want to play at Palermo for two or three years more before I play for a big club,” he said.

“But if I get an offer I think I have to go because I want to play in the Champions League. My agent told me four or five clubs wanted me this season, including Napoli and (Glasgow) Rangers, but at the moment I’m staying put.”

Acquah, in April signed a five-year deal to stay with the club until 2016 having joined Palermo last year.
