Black Queens Head Coach Yussif Bassigi poised for Saturday’s crucial encounter against the Indomitable Lioness of Cameroon on Saturday August 1 at the Accra Sport Stadium as they seek to qualify to the Olympic Games for the first time.

In an interview with Ghanafa.org ahead of Saturday’s match, Coach Bassigi revealed that his side are in top shape and ready to face of their Cameroonian opponents.

“Preparations have been very good. We played a match and realized that they are match ready and in shape for the game on Saturday. Their mindset is to eliminate the Cameroonians in other to smoothen their chance of qualifying to the Olympic.”

Despite their defeats to Cameroon in recent times, Coach Bassigi insists there is no revenge on their minds going into Saturday’s match.

“There is no revenge on our minds rather we are hoping it will be a sweet victory for us. We are going all out with a mindset of winning. We are poised to get there, we want to go to the Olympics for the first time and make history for ourselves.”

The Queens have suffered a number of defeats at the hand of the Indomitable Lioness through penalty kicks but are hoping to turn things around this time.

Coach of the senior national female team Yusif Bassigi believes Ghana will emerge as victors in Saturday’s clash should it end in penalty shoot outs.

“We have been practicing penalty shoot-outs since we got here and we have reliable players who take penalty kicks can can should it get down to that. However we are hoping it doesn’t get there.”

Bassigi who is also the coach of Sekondi Hasaacas and Hasaacas Ladies called on Ghanaians to be at the stadium on Saturday and offer maximum support to the team.

Ghana could join either South Africa/ Kenya or Nigeria to next year’s Olympic Games which will be staged in Brazil if they win Saturday’s match and beat Ivory Coast subsequently.
