AshantiGold’s 1-0 home loss to Liberty Professionals on Sunday compounded their problems and extended their winless run to five matches in the Ghana Premier League.

The Miners who lie in 10th place in the League table with 17 points have not won a match since their come from behind win against Accra Great Olympics on January 10, 2021.

Coach Milovan Cirkovic’s side have been extremely poor in their last five outings following defeats to Legon Cities, Ebusua Dwarfs and Liberty Professionals. AshantiGold also drew at home against Medeama SC and Asante Kotoko .

This Saturday, they travel to Sogakope to square off with WAFA at the Red Bull arena, aiming to get back to winning ways after two straight defeats on the road.

The Academy Boys have yet to lose a game at home this season after recording four wins and two draws in their six home matches. This definitely sets the tone for a pulsating encounter against AshantiGold on Saturday.

WAFA have lost three first team players in this transfer window market. Striker Daniel Lomotey has joined Algerian side ES Setif. Forward Daniel Owusu and midfielder Forson Amankwaa have moved to Red Bull Salzburg on a four-and-a-half-year contract.

Last season, AshantiGold suffered an embarrassing 6-1 defeat to WAFA at the Red Bull arena at Sogakope.
