Sulley Muntari has no problem being a reserve with Ghana at the World Cup as he puts the team ahead of any personal satisfaction.

The midfielder who has recovered from a thigh injury picked up during Ghana's training camp in Paris, sat out the entire opening game against Serbia at Loftus Versfeld with the Black Stars finishing 1-0 winners in Group D on Sunday.

Despite the uncertainly over whether he would earn a starting place in the Ghana team that plays Australia in Rustenburg on Saturday, Muntari says he just wants to help the team get a result.

“It was good to see the guys play so well,” Muntari said Tuesday.

“It did not matter that I didn’t play. The big thing was that we won. I’m now looking forward to helping the guys in our next match against Australia. I’m really looking forward to it.”

For Black Stars coach, Milovan Rajevac, there was no need rushing back one of the side's most influential players as Muntari together with Appiah did not getting starting roles in the first game.

"Muntari was not used because he has been injured for sometime. He has recovered well but we didn't want to risk him too much.

"He's a quality player and would do a job for the team when the time comes," the Ghana coach said.

"Appiah is an important player for the team. Although he did not play so much last year, he remains key to us. Before the game he was encouraging the boys and did same when he went on and I think that was very positive.

"I am very happy with them. They [Muntari and Appiah] are functioning for the team."
