The festive period is still on and with the age-long tradition of the Christmas season, it's a time for giving.

And a host of former and present Black Stars players have taken the initiative play for the fun of the game but also use the occasion to raise funds for the needy.

Two former Black Stars players would be leading separate teams to play in the charity game at the Gyandu Park in Sekondi on Saturday, December 30.

The match dubbed 'Anthony Baffoe XI versus Anthony Yeboah XI' is aimed at raising funds to support the work of Orphanage Africa in Adenta, a suburb of Accra.

Both former national stars are expected to feature in the game that would pitch Ghanaian internationals on holiday and those retired from active play.

Baffoe, who is the coordinator of the initiative, said he was moved by the plight of the disadvantaged in the society and decided to contribute his quota to the needy.

"It is also a form of serving this nation and giving back what it has given us," Baffoe said during Wednesday's press conference in Accra.

The former Black Stars right-full-back announced that a number of foreign-based players including Augustine Arhinful, Sulley Muntari, Laryea Kingson, Baba Adamu Armando, Daniel Addo, Nii Odartey Lamptey and Mohammed Gargo are all expected to feature in the match.

Ghana-born German international, Gerald Asamoah would also be featuring in the game.

The match has attracted support from some corporate bodies cellular service provider, OneTouch, Vanguard Assurance Company Limited - an insurance firm and Ghana's kit sponsors, Puma.
