Black Satellites Head Coach Desmond Ofei has stressed the importance of focus and execution as Ghana prepares to face the Central African Republic (CAR) in a decisive Group C encounter at the ongoing U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.
Labelling the match as a "mini final," Ofei emphasized the stakes involved: “We need a good result to guarantee qualification. This is like a final for us, and we are treating it with the urgency it deserves.”
Coach Ofei gave respectful mention to the opposition, calling CAR a "very enterprising team" that has shown its attacking quality by scoring in every game so far. “We can’t afford to be complacent against a hardworking side like CAR. They’ve shown they can hurt teams, so we must remain focused and composed.”
On Ghana’s approach, the coach said the technical team has mapped out a solid strategy which the players are ready to execute. “Our team is prepared. We’ve worked on our plan, and now it’s about delivering on the pitch.”
He also had kind words for Egypt, the host nation. “The tournament has been well-organized and I’m really enjoying being here. Egypt has done a fantastic job.”
With qualification in sight, the Black Satellites will be hoping to cap off the group stage with a strong performance and advance to the next phase of the competition.
