Security measures for league announced

The Premier League Board (PLB) announces a new set of security and medical arrangements for the Glo Premier League after reviewing the previous measures.

A press statement from the PLB office confirmed that the latest set of modalities is to help curtail any acts of intimidation and harassment of visiting teams and match officials at league centres.

"Having assessed the trend up to the 17th week, the PLB wishes to ease some of the operational difficulties in securing the services of the Police in some localities with the introduction of mandatory presence of a reasonable number of military at all centres," the statement said.

Following the review, the Premier League Board has decided on the measures below:

i. Category ‘A’ matches involving Hearts and Kotoko shall operate with the number of security and Para-medicals which have been in place so far,

ii. Category ‘B’ matches i.e. matches involving either Hearts or Kotoko and other clubs. The operational requirements will be as follows: - Police personnel should be between 40 – 80 men. - Military 5 – 10 Soldiers

- Ghana National Fire Service should be between 5 and 10 men if available. - Medicals should be between 5 and 10 men. - St. John’s - 20 - Ambulance 1 or 2

iii. Category ‘C’ matches i.e. matches between Premier League Clubs other than Hearts and Kotoko. The security, medical and allied Deployment will be as follows:-

- Ghana Police between 15 and 40 men - Armed Forces 5 and 10 men - GNFS 5 and 10 men - Medical team 5 and 10 men - Red Cross 5 and 10 men - St. John’s 10 men - Ambulance 1 or 2

The league organizers also explained that the above figures are subject to variations depending on the situations.
