Satellites look for second Wafu Cup win

Sellas Tetteh is hoping to build on Ghana’s opening win in the West Africa Football Union (Wafu) tournament which kicked off on Friday.

Goals from Evans Quao and Dominic Adiyah handed the Black Satellites a 2-0 victory over Senegal that sees them jump top of Group B.

Despite the win, Sellas Tetteh is hoping to see an improved performance as Ghana gets ready for the next game against Guinea.

A win from the next game would assure Ghana of a place in the next round of the competition.

Ghana were drawn in Group B with Senegal, Guinea and Gambia. Having fielded some new faces in his team for the opener, the Ghana coach remains hopeful that the Black Satellites would gel in the other games.

According to the competition rules, the first two clubs from each group after the round-robin will progress to the quarterfinals, with the winners advancing to the semi final stage.

The Wafu competition would also see hosts, Nigeria who are is paired in Group A alongside Togo, Benin and Guinea Bissau.

Group C consist of Cote d'Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Sierra Leone and Mauritania whilst Mali, Cape Verde, Niger and Liberia make up Group D.
