Ghana international, Quincy Owusu-Abeyie is hoping to earn a permanent deal with Championship side, Birmingham.

The Black Stars attacker is currently on loan at the Blues from Spartak Moscow, with that agreement set to run until January.

Birmingham will then have the option of extending that deal through to the end of the season.

With 10 league starts this season and two goals to his credit, Owusu-Abeyie hopes to have done enough during his short time at St Andrews to have persuaded Alex McLeish to sign him on a full-time basis.

"Obviously I'm on a loan deal here so I'm always trying to prove myself and show that I can get a permanent deal or at least an extension to the loan, that's the most important thing for me at the moment," admitted the 22-year-old in the Birmingham Mail.

"I'm trying to play good games and hopefully we can do something from there. It was good playing 90 minutes against Watford (on Saturday) after a long time.

"I haven't had a lot of games for the last couple of weeks so I was actually looking forward to playing against Watford.

"I was happy to start the game and I just went out there and enjoyed the game. You're always looking to play a good game and I'm looking forward to starting more.

"That is down to the manager, I just have to go out there, show what I can do and hopefully get the confidence and more games in."

With just two goals to his name so far this season, Owusu-Abeyie, a former Arsenal player accepts that he must continue to provide a goal threat for the Blues, but believes his game is about much more than being a poacher.

"I like to get the ball at my feet, run at defenders and then try to get a cross in, sometimes I look for the goal," he added.

"If I get the chance to shoot at the target and it goes in then that's nice but the three points are more important for me.

"There's a spirit in this team and I think we showed that against Watford (in a 3-2 win)."
