The final matches of the first round of the season will be played on Sunday in the OneTouch Premier League with some clubs looking for a push that will keep them in the title hunt while others seek to avoid the drop before the second session.

Certainly, Asante Kotoko will head into the second round of the league still at the top of the standings while Great Olympics will also begin the session at the bottom of the table, a not too comfortable place for the Wonder Club to perch.

At the top of the table, where the big clubs are placed, the title race heats up with three clubs – Kotoko, Liberty and Lions – pushing to make their respective campaigns a success.

The top three clubs does not involve the defending champions, Hearts of Oak. The Phobians find themselves in the bottom three rather.

For Asante Kotoko, a game at home to a Real Tamale United side who have improved their away performances this season would be a difficult one.

The trip to the Baba Yara Stadium looks a complex task for RTU but their coach, Abdul Razak, himself, a former player and coach of Kotoko is confident of denting the hopes of the Porcupine Warriors.

Kotoko have endured a goal drought, failing to score in two successive drawn games.

Liberty Professionals, have always underachieved when it comes to competing for the league title. But after an impressive run of five wins on the trot, the Dansoman-based club, lying second on the table are sure this might be the season when they taste glory in their 11-year history.

The Dansoman side, ranked as one of the favourites are five points behind Kotoko, are tipped to mount the pressure on the leaders but they would have to secure a win at the Essipong Stadium where they play away to Sekondi Hasaacas.

In Wa, Heart of Lions’ battle to take the second place would be tested when they play home team, Wa All Stars. Lions lie third on the standings - level on points with Liberty but with less goals - and like Liberty, would have to win to enhance their chances of keeping Kotoko in sight.

While AshantiGold showed their scoring strength in the CAF continental competition, the Miners have slumped domestically, failing to pick up a win from their last three games. The Miners would be at home to Kessben FC at the Len Clay Stadium.

At Tema Sports Stadium, defending champions, Accra Hearts of Oak will attempt to climb out of the bottom three when they take on Real Sportive on the newly laid artificial pitch. The Phobians, despite being third from bottom have a game in hand.

Hearts coach, Eyal Lachman will be looking for his first domestic win in his third premiership game since taking over. A win would boost their confidence which has soared since drawing goalless with the leaders, Asante Kotoko last Sunday.

Gamba All Blacks stand-in coach, Willie Brown, started off his new job with an impressive win in midweek and will try to maintain that feat when the Black Magicians welcome King Faisal to the Swedru Sports Stadium.

Zaytuna FC, still struggling in the bottom ranks of the table, face Berekum Arsenals at the Carl Reindorf Park in Dansoman.

Sunday's remaining fixture is the game between the relegation threatened Accra Great Olympics, who play another struggling side, Tema Youth at the Ohene Djan Stadium.

The Wonder Club have remained at bottom since the start of the season and even a win over Tema Youth will still see them prop the table.
