Nations FC will be looking to bounce back to winning ways when they welcome an in-form Heart of Lions side to the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex on Saturday.
Frimpong Manso’s side dropped points for the fourth time in five matches (W1, D2, L2) after a late 1–0 defeat to Basake Holy Stars at the AAK II Arena last Sunday, conceding just ten minutes from full-time. The loss—Nations FC’s fifth in 12 outings, underlined their stuttering form as they continue to struggle for consistency under their new head coach.
Currently sitting 12th on the league table with 13 points, the Abrankese club have scored 10 goals and conceded 12 so far. Despite the challenges, Nations FC remain strong at home, ranking among the league’s top ten performers on their own turf. They have claimed three wins and three draws at Abrankese, scoring eight goals, conceding four, and keeping three clean sheets. Manso’s men will be desperate to extend that unbeaten home run and secure a vital victory to steady their campaign.
Heart of Lions travel to Abrankese in high spirits despite being held to a goalless draw by Karela United last Sunday at the Kpando Sports Stadium, a result that denied them a seventh win of the season. Still, the Kpando-based side closed November as the league’s third-best team after going unbeaten in five matches (W2, D3).
Heart of Lions, sitting second boast the second-best attack in the Premier League with 16 goals and have conceded just seven, also the joint second-fewest in the league. On the road, they are ranked fifth-best, having registered one win, four draws, and one defeat while scoring eight and conceding seven. The visitors will be aiming to secure back-to-back away victories as they make the trip to Abrankese.
The two clubs have faced each other twice at Abrankese since Nations FC’s promotion in 2023, with each side winning once, setting the stage for another tightly contested affair.
