President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku has outlined a major financial boost for Ghana Premier League clubs, describing the Football Association's expanded investment and reward structure as a bold step towards building a stronger, more competitive domestic game.
Speaking at the 32nd Ordinary Session of Congress at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram on Thursday, August 20, 2026, President Simeon-Okraku highlighted the unprecedented financial support provided to Premier League clubs during the 2025/26 season.
Through the GFA's landmark partnership with Adesa Productions Limited, each of the 18 Ghana Premier League clubs received GHS 1 million before the start of the season.
“Through our landmark partnership with Adesa Productions Limited, each of the 18 Ghana Premier League clubs received GHS 1 million before the commencement of the 2025/26 season,” President Simeon-Okraku said.
“This was a bold statement of intent to empower our clubs, improve their financial stability, and create the conditions necessary for sustained growth and competitiveness.”
Record GHS 2M Prize for champions
The President also reiterated the record prize package for the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League, with the champions set to receive GHS 2 million.
The runners-up will receive GHS 1 million, while the third- and fourth-placed clubs will receive GHS 800,000 and GHS 750,000 respectively.
The enhanced rewards represent a significant increase in the financial incentives attached to sporting excellence in Ghana's top-flight competition.
GHS 9.5m to be shared among 15 GPL clubs
Beyond the top four, the GFA has introduced a broader incentive structure designed to ensure that financial rewards extend to a greater number of participating clubs.
According to President Simeon-Okraku, 15 of the 18 Premier League clubs will receive financial rewards, with the total incentive package amounting to GHS 9.5 million.
“Fifteen (15) of the eighteen participating clubs will receive financial rewards — an unprecedented incentive structure that recognises performance, promotes healthy competition, and ensures that success is shared more broadly across the league, totalling GHS 9.5 Million,” he said.
The initiative is intended to promote healthy competition throughout the league while providing clubs with additional resources to strengthen their operations and competitiveness.
