The  Premier League matchday 9 promises thrilling matches across the country on Sunday November 9, 2025,  as clubs jostle for crucial points to shape their early-season ambitions. From title contenders aiming to maintain their momentum to struggling sides desperate for redemption, every fixture carries significant weight this weekend.

Young Apostles vs Bechem United

Young Apostles will aim to return to winning ways when they host bottom-three side Bechem United in Wenchi on Sunday.

Coach Abdul Henan’s men suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to champions Bibiani Gold Stars last weekend, ending their five-game unbeaten streak. The Wenchi outfit, who have collected 11 points from seven matches (W3, D2, L2), remain unbeaten in their last three home games (W2, D1) and will look to extend that record.

Bechem United, meanwhile, sit 16th with just six points after managing one win in eight matches. Their attacking woes persist, having scored only four goals while conceding seven. The Hunters have lost all four away fixtures this season and will be desperate to end that run and climb out of the relegation zone.

Head-to-Head

The two sides have met once in the Premier League, a goalless draw in Wenchi during the 2024/25 season.

FC Samartex 1996 vs Swedru All Blacks

FC Samartex 1996 will be eager to return to winning ways when they welcome Premier League returnees Swedru All Blacks to the Nsenkyire Sports Arena on Sunday, November 9, 2025, in what promises to be a fascinating Week 9 clash.

Coach Christopher Ennin’s men saw their impressive seven-game unbeaten run (W3, D4) come to an end in a disappointing away defeat to Dreams FC last weekend. The result dropped the Timber Giants to 6th place on the league table with 13 points from eight matches, having scored seven and conceded five.

Despite that setback, Samartex remain a formidable force at home. The Samreboi-based side are ranked as the fourth-best home performers this season, recording three wins and one draw from four home games.

Swedru All Blacks head into the match as underdogs but with renewed determination after salvaging a late 1-1 draw against fifth-placed Heart of Lions last weekend. The point helped them avoid what would have been their sixth defeat of the season.

Under coach Ahmed Ibrahim Fathi, the “Black Magicians” sit 14th on the league table with seven points (W2, D1, L5), having scored eight goals and conceded nine,  one of the higher tallies in the division. However, their away form remains a major concern. The Premier League returnees are among just three teams yet to register a single away point this season, losing all four matches on the road while scoring twice and conceding seven.

Basake Holy Stars vs Bibiani Gold Stars

Defending champions Bibiani Gold Stars FC will look to maintain their unbeaten run and keep pace with the league leaders when they travel to the AAK II Arena on Sunday, November 9, 2025, to face Basake Holy Stars.

For Basake Holy Stars, it has been a season to forget so far. The Aiyinase-based side appear to be suffering from the dreaded second-season syndrome, still searching for their first win of the 2025/26 campaign. After seven matches, they remain bottom of the league table with just two points, having drawn twice and lost five times.

Basake Holy Stars are also the only team in the league to have gone five consecutive games without a single point (L5) heading into this weekend’s encounter. Their home record offers little comfort either, with one draw and one defeat from two matches at the AAK II Arena.

After a 1-1 draw with Hearts of Oak, the Miners returned to winning ways last weekend with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Young Apostles, extending their unbeaten run to four games (W3, D1). They currently sit 4th on the league table with 16 points from eight matches, just two points behind the leaders.

With the Miners chasing the top spot and Basake Holy Stars fighting to end their winless run, Sunday’s Western Derby promises to be an intense and defining clash for both sides.

Head-to-Head

Since Basake Holy Stars’ promotion to the Premier League in the 2024/25 season, they have hosted Bibiani Gold Stars once, with the Miners emerging 1-0 winners in that encounter.

Heart of Lions vs Berekum Chelsea

Heart of Lions will look to continue their impressive home form when they welcome Berekum Chelsea to the Kpando Sports Stadium on Sunday.

The Kpando-based side were left frustrated last weekend after conceding a late equaliser in their 1-1 draw with newly-promoted Swedru All Blacks. Despite dominating proceedings, the result meant Bashir Hayford’s men have now dropped points in four of their last five league matches (D3, L1), slipping to 5th place on the table with 15 points from eight matches (W4, D3, L1).

The Kpando lads are currently unbeaten in their last eight home matches across all competitions, a record they will be eager to extend when they face a Berekum Chelsea side that has struggled away from home. Moreover, Heart of Lions have a perfect home record against Chelsea in recent years, winning both encounters in Kpando without conceding.

Berekum Chelsea head into this weekend’s fixture buoyed by a morale-boosting 1-0 victory over Vision FC at the Golden City Park last Sunday, a result that saw them climb out of the relegation zone. It was the team’s second win of the 2025/26 season (W2, D2, L4), a platform they will be eager to build on as they aim to secure back-to-back victories for the first time this campaign.

Head-to-Head

Since 2023, Heart of Lions have hosted Berekum Chelsea twice in the Ghana Premier League, winning both matches without conceding (W2, D0, L0).

Karela United vs Dreams FC

Karela United will be hoping to return to winning ways when they host Dreams FC at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium on Sunday.

The Tamale-based side suffered a 4-2 defeat to Asante Kotoko in Kumasi last weekend, their second loss of the 2025/26 campaign, and will be determined to produce a strong response in front of their home fans. Karela began the weekend in 7th position on the league table with 12 points from eight matches (W3, D3, L2), having scored nine and conceded ten goals, the third-highest defensive tally in the league so far.

While Karela’s attack has been lively, defensive lapses have cost them vital points, something head coach Nurudeen Amadu will be keen to address ahead of this fixture. Nonetheless, the Pride of the North have been outstanding at home this season, remaining unbeaten in all four matches at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium (W3, D1), keeping three clean sheets and conceding just one goal. Ranked as the fifth-best home team in the league, Karela will be eager to extend their formidable home form and maintain their dominance over Dreams FC — a side they’ve beaten three times in their last five home league meetings (W3, D1, L1) since the 2020/21 season.

Dreams FC travel to Tamale with renewed confidence following their 2-0 victory over defending champions FC Samartex 1996 at the Tuba AstroTurf last weekend. That result lifted the Still Believe lads to 15th place on the table, just one point above the relegation zone, with 7 points from eight matches (W2, D1, L5).

Despite their recent home resurgence, Winfred Dormon’s side has struggled severely on the road. Dreams FC have lost all four of their away matches this season, scoring only two goals and conceding six in the process.

Head-to-Head
Since the 2020/21 season, Karela United have hosted Dreams FC five times in the league, recording three wins, one draw, and one defeat (W3, D1, L1).
