As the Premier League enters its decisive final stretch, matchday 32 promises high-stakes drama across the country, with the battle for the title, top-four positions, and relegation survival all intensifying. With just three rounds remaining, every point is crucial, whether it’s for clubs chasing glory, aiming for continental qualification, or fighting to avoid the drop.

Here's a comprehensive match-by-match preview of a weekend that could prove crucial in shaping the outcome of the 2024/25 season.

Gold Stars vs Asante Kotoko

Title-chasing Gold Stars FC will look to maintain their momentum in the Premier League as they welcome Asante Kotoko to the Dun’s Park on Sunday. Currently sitting second on the league table with 56 points, Gold Stars are firmly in the title race and will be eager to extend their impressive home form in this crucial encounter.

Frimpong Manso’s side have enjoyed a decent run in recent weeks, winning three and losing two of their last five matches. The Miners boast one of the league’s tightest defences, having conceded just 19 goals. Offensively, they are joint-third among the highest-scoring teams with 31 goals this season. Their home record is formidable, ranking fourth overall, with an impressive 11 wins, three draws and just one loss from 15 games at Dun’s Park.

Asante Kotoko are just two places and two points behind their hosts, sitting fourth with 54 points. Under the guidance of Abdul Karim Zito, the Porcupine Warriors are eyeing a historic double, their first since the 2013/14 season. However, consistency has eluded them of late, with two wins, one draw and two losses in their last five matches.

Kotoko have found the net 33 times this season, making them the second-best attacking side in the league while conceding 22 goals. Their away form has been less inspiring, ranking seventh in that regard. The Porcupine Warriors have managed just three goals across their last eight away fixtures. They’ll be desperate to break that pattern and register their first away win since their 2-1 triumph over Dreams FC on matchday 14 in December, 2024.

Recent head-to-head history between the two sides adds an extra layer of intrigue. Since the 2021/22 season, Gold Stars have hosted Kotoko three times in the league, with each side winning once and one match ending in a draw. Kotoko edged a 1-0 victory in 2021/22, the sides shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw in 2022/23, while Gold Stars secured a 2-1 win in the 2023/24 season.

Dreams FC vs Berekum Chelsea

Dreams FC will be looking to return to winning ways when they host Berekum Chelsea at the Tuba Astro Turf on Sunday, May 25, 2025.

The Believers, currently ninth on the table with 43 points from 31 matches, are still smarting from a heavy 4-1 defeat to Asante Kotoko last weekend,  their second-heaviest loss of the season. With a recent run of two wins, one draw, and two defeats, Dreams FC will be eager to respond positively and solidify their mid-table standing.

Despite their struggles on the road, Dreams FC have turned their home ground into a fortress in recent weeks. They are unbeaten in their last five home matches, boasting four clean sheets and a record of four wins and a draw. However, their historical home record against Berekum Chelsea offers little comfort. Since the 2020/21 season, the Believers have hosted Chelsea four times in the league, managing just one win while losing the other three. They suffered 0-1 defeats in both the 2020/21 and 2021/22 seasons, secured a 2-0 win in 2022/23, and lost 0-2 in the 2023/24 campaign.

Eleventh-placed Berekum Chelsea, with 41 points, find themselves still stuck in the bottom half of the table following consecutive defeats to Aduana FC in the Bono derby and Hearts of Oak. Samuel Boadu’s side has had mixed fortunes this season, while they are among the joint-third highest-scoring teams in the league with 31 goals, they’ve also conceded 30, the fifth-highest tally in the division.

Their away form continues to be a significant concern. Chelsea have secured just two wins from 15 matches on the road this season, with three draws and a staggering ten losses. However, their consistent success against Dreams FC in away fixtures will give them a psychological edge as they look to reclaim momentum and climb the standings.

Bechem United vs Basake Holy Stars

Bechem United will be aiming to return to winning ways when they welcome Premier League debutants Basake Holy Stars to the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park on Sunday, May 25, 2025, in what promises to be a crucial clash for both sides.

The Hunters head into this encounter on the back of a narrow 2-1 defeat to reigning champions FC Samartex 1996, marking their sixth loss in their last nine league outings (W2, D1). That poor run of form has dealt a heavy blow to their top-four ambitions, as they now trail seventh-placed Medeama SC by four points, an increasingly difficult gap to bridge with just a few games remaining.

Despite the slump, Bechem United have amassed 43 points from 31 matches and remain among the joint-fourth highest-scoring sides in the league with 30 goals. They have also been relatively solid at the back, conceding 26 goals. A recent home win against bottom-placed Legon Cities ended a run of two successive defeats at Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park and could provide a much-needed morale boost. Ranked as the fifth-best home team in the league, Ernest Danso’s side will be eager to claim their 12th home victory of the campaign on Sunday.

Holy Stars currently sit 12th on the table with 37 points after a mixed run of two wins, one draw and two losses in their last five matches. They’ve scored 30 goals and conceded 34 in the process.

This match marks the first-ever Premier League meeting between the two sides at Bechem since Basake Holy Stars’ promotion to the top flight.

Aduana FC vs Legon Cities

Aduana FC will be eager to return to winning ways when they welcome bottom-placed Legon Cities to the Nana Agyeman Badu I Park on Sunday, May 25, 2025.

The Fire Club enter matchday 32 occupying 10th place on the table with 41 points after a disappointing 5-3 defeat to relegation-threatened Accra Lions last weekend. With 31 goals scored and 31 conceded, Aduana FC remain one of the league’s joint fourth-highest scoring sides, but have struggled for consistency throughout the campaign.

However, their home form has been a bright spot. Aduana are currently among the best home performers in the league, having gone unbeaten in their last five home matches with four straight wins and one draw. They’ll be aiming to extend that run and secure all three points in front of their home fans on Sunday.

Their opponents, Legon Cities, are in deep crisis. The Royals sit in the bottom three of the league table with just 25 points from 31 matches. A string of four defeats in their last five games (W1) has only worsened their plight, and they face an uphill battle to avoid relegation. Offensively, they’ve managed just 22 goals, the second-lowest tally in the division while shipping a league-high 43 goals, highlighting a season marred by defensive frailties.

Legon Cities' away form is equally dismal. They are the worst-performing side on the road and remain the only team yet to register a single away victory this season, an ominous statistic as they prepare to visit one of the league's toughest venues.

Historically, Dormaa has proven to be an unwelcoming ground for Legon Cities. In their four league visits to Aduana FC since the 2020/21 season, they’ve failed to register a win—losing three and drawing once. Aduana triumphed 2-1 in 2020/21, drew 1-1 the following season, and have claimed back-to-back 1-0 wins in both the 2022/23 and 2023/24 campaigns.

Nations FC vs FC Samartex 1996

A thrilling clash awaits on Sunday at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex as league leaders Nations FC welcome defending champions FC Samartex 1996 in a title defining Premier League showdown.

Nations FC have emerged as genuine title contenders this season and are showing no signs of slowing down. They head into the weekend with four wins in their last five matches, including an emphatic 4-1 away victory over Legon Cities at the UG Stadium on Monday. That result helped them maintain their narrow one-point lead at the summit as the race for the Premier League title intensifies.

Under the guidance of Kassim Mingle Ocansey, the Abrankese-based side has developed into a formidable force. They currently boast the league’s most potent attack with 37 goals and the strongest defence, having conceded just 16 times in 31 matches. Nations FC have been especially dominant at home, going unbeaten in their last four matches without conceding a single goal. Ranked among the league’s top home performers, they will be targeting a 10th home win on Sunday as they edge closer to a historic first Premier League title.

FC Samartex 1996 are quietly positioning themselves for a late surge toward the top four. The Timber Giants sit sixth with 48 points after a solid run of three wins, one draw, and one defeat in their last five matches. Christopher Ennin’s side have scored 31 goals and conceded 22, showcasing balance and resilience.

Though their away form has been inconsistent, Samartex are still ranked the sixth-best away team in the league heading into this fixture.

This match will mark only the second league meeting between the two sides in Abrankese since Nations FC’s promotion to the top flight last season. In their previous encounter, Nations FC secured a 2-0 home victory—a result they will be keen to replicate.

Young Apostles vs Heart of Lions

Premier League newcomers Young Apostles will be hoping to return to winning ways when they host high-flying Heart of Lions at the Wenchi Sports Stadium on Sunday.

The Wenchi-based side suffered a 2-0 defeat at Vision FC in their last outing and have managed just two wins, one draw, and two defeats from their previous five league matches. That inconsistent run has seen them slip to 13th on the league table with 37 points. Goals have been hard to come by for Abdul Rahim Bashiru’s men, who have netted a league-low 21 times while conceding 31, the joint fourth-highest tally.

Despite their struggles, Young Apostles have turned their home ground into a source of strength. Since losing 2-0 to Medeama SC in November 2024,  they’ve gone ten home matches unbeaten, winning five and drawing five.

Heart of Lions saw their title charge momentarily stalled after a frustrating goalless draw away to Basake Holy Stars, ending their four-game winning streak. Still, the result extended their unbeaten run and ensured they remain firmly in the title race. The Lions are currently third on the league table with 54 points, just three behind leaders Nations FC, as the title race heats up.

Under the guidance of Bashiru Kwame Hayford, Lions have been a well-balanced unit, scoring 33 goals and conceding just 20, ranking among the league’s best in both departments. Their away form has also been solid, with two wins, a draw, and two losses in their last five matches on the road, including three clean sheets. They currently rank as the fourth-best away team in the division.

Vision FC vs Karela United

Vision FC currently sit 14th on the league table with 36 points, just one point above the drop zone. With the relegation picture tightening, this encounter presents a golden opportunity for Nana Agyeman’s side to widen the gap between themselves and the bottom three. The Tema-based outfit have recorded two wins, one draw, and two losses in their last five matches. They’ve scored 27 goals but remain vulnerable at the back, having conceded 34 times, one of the highest tallies in the league.

Despite their overall struggles, Vision have turned their home ground into a fortress. They are unbeaten in their last nine home matches, winning six and drawing three. Their recent back-to-back 2-0 home wins over Gold Stars FC and Young Apostles speak to their growing confidence on home soil, and they will be eager to extend that form when they welcome a direct relegation rival for the first time in the top flight.

Karela United arrive in Tema knowing that only a win can lift them out of the relegation zone. The Tamale-based side currently occupy 16th place with 35 points, one behind their hosts. However, recent performances offer a glimmer of hope, Karela are unbeaten in their last three matches, with back-to-back victories over Gold Stars FC and Medeama SC after drawing with Heart of Lions. They’ve scored just 22 goals, among the league’s lowest, but have remained disciplined at the back, conceding only 25.

Under the guidance of Nurudeen Amadu, Karela have emerged as one of the league’s better away sides. They’ve collected points in three of their last five games on the road, keeping three clean sheets in that span (W1, D2, L2). With survival at stake, they will look to continue that resilient form on their trip south.

This fixture marks the first-ever top-flight meeting between Vision FC and Karela United in Tema, setting the stage for a tense, season-defining showdown.
