Premier League hopefuls begin promotion league

After sealing playoff spots, the real competition begins for eight teams targeting promotion to the Premier League.

The winners of the three-game series are always rewarded with Premier League football as the action begins this weekend for Division One League sides in Zone II and III.

Match-day-1 presents all competing sides an opportunity to get off to a good start as former premier sides Great Olympics, Tema Youth and Okwawu United, Feyenoord and Eleven Wise all look to beat off competition from Dunkwa United, Gold Stars and Istanbul.

The action begins at the Accra Stadium on Friday in Zone II where Dunkwa United face Gold Stars in the first game of the 2013-14 play-off campaign.

Then on Saturday, with their aim of returning to the top-flight their biggest ambition, Feyenoord will host Eleven Wise at the Tema Stadium in the second Zone II fixture.

The competition will also get underway the same day for teams Zone III where Great Olympics will be hoping to get off to a wonderful start against Istanbul at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Tema Youth and Okwawu United will battle in the other group fixture at the Len Clay Stadium.

The winner of each zone qualifies for next season's Premier League.
