The Ghana Football Association has denied media reports claiming a rift exist between the FA and the Iran Football Federation over the purse due Ghana after an international late last month.

Local media reports had claimed that the host, Iran, had declined payment of the $120,000 as agreed because of the GFA breached the contract when the Olympic team were featured for the game in Tehran rather the senior side, the Black Stars, a report which overshadowed Ghana's 4-2 defeat.

But speaking to ghanafa.org, FA President, Kwesi Nyantakyi said: "It is untrue. Iran is not indebted to us. We (Ghana) never entered into any agreement with the Iranians to feature eight senior players for the game.

“The Ghana Football Association through the match agents agreed to honour the game and met all the conditions of the contract.

“There was no clause that stipulated that Ghana had to field eight senior players for the game since the Black Stars were unavailable at the time.

“We only had an agreement with the match organizers and not Iran. There’s no issue about the use of the Black Meteors.”

The FA President however explained that Ghana has received half the purse and like all such international games the total purse is not picked up right on the spot.

According to Kwesi Nyantakyi, full payment would be made at a later date as agreed with the match agents.

“We have worked with the same match agents before. They organized the Ghana-Brazil and are in charge of the up-coming game with Senegal.

“There’s no merit in the reports about the appearance fee. The remaining sum due Ghana would be paid at a later date which has been worked out with the agent. We have no problems.”
