As he prepares to begin his second term in charge of Ghana by signing a contract extension, Milovan Rajevac says the opportunity to achieve something greater with the Black Stars is exciting.

Rajevac has signalled his determination to do more after guiding Ghana to the quarter-finals of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. That triumph was the best by Ghana in its history at the World Cup after making their debut four years ago in Germany.

“I want to continue with this job, now we have to agree on the way forward. I have been enjoying this challenge; it has been a great experience for me,” the Ghana coach told FIFA.com.

The Ghana coach says the Black Stars' performance at the 2010 World Cup has made Africa an attractive place to pitch camp.

“The recent World Cup showed the rest of the world that Africa is actually a good place to be, I think it changed a lot of stereotypes in Europe,” he said. “Now people, I’m sure, say ‘I wouldn’t mind working there.’

And that triumph completed a double final finish in two continental competitions for the Serbian. Rajevac led Ghana to the final 2010 Africa Cup of Nations in Angola and the maiden African Nations Championship - CHAN - in 2009.

Now, Rajevac's focus is the qualifying for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon/ Equatorial Guinea before any talk of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, a competition fans have become accustomed to.

Ghana are placed in Group I alongside Congo, Sudan and Swaziland and the Black Stars' first qualifying game is away to Swaziland on September 5 in Lombamba.

“We have important matches to play in the qualifiers, we need to do well there and build a good foundation,” he said.

“We need to concentrate and collect maximum points throughout the campaign. Of course sometimes that is not possible, but that should be the attitude of any team that has ambitions. We know that we have to work harder and we will face quality teams. The Africa Cup of Nations is our main priority now. Once that goal has been achieved, then we will shift our focus towards something else, like the 2014 World Cup.”
