Ghana and two other countries, who all made it to the last finals at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens are in contention again for a place this time round, to Beijing.

Twelve countries would be keenly awaiting the group draw for the African qualifiers for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games on Wednesday, April 11 in Zurich.

The teams are Cameroon, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Guinea, Ethiopia, Botswana, Nigeria, South Africa, Mali, Morocco, Senegal and Zambia.

Of the twelve, the trio of Ghana, Mali and Morocco were at the last finals; Athens 2004 in Greece.

The group winners from the three groups of four each will play on a round-robin basis to declare winners who will represent the continent at the Olympics.

Ghana reached the group stage after edging out Burkina Faso on a 5-0 aggregate scoreline over two legs last month.

Three tickets would be available to next year’s football tournament at the men’s Olympic Games from the African continent.
