John Mensah says he is looking for a repeat of the same passion and commitment that got Ghana’s 2010 African Nations Cup and World Cup campaign off to a good start.

The Black Stars captain would be leading Ghana in Bloemfontein, venue of the match against Lesotho on Sunday.

John Mensah, who was substituted late on in the game against Libya last Sunday hopes the team has enjoyed enough rest and ready for the match after arriving on Tuesday in South Africa.

“We have used up quiet some energy over the course of the season and during Sunday’s game in Kumasi so hopefully we should be able to rest well and prepare well for Sunday. It is away from home which means we can’t take anything for granted,” he said.

The Rennes defender, a member of Ghana’s debut World Cup squad in 2006 says the qualifying campaign is the next step to making a second successive appearance at the World Cup finals but demands total seriousness ahead of the upcoming up games.

“When the opposition has a big reputation, we the players have been up for it and the nation has come behind us solidly," he said.

"There will be a tendency to think this game is won already but on the playing front we think differently.

“We will play this game with the same level of seriousness we would have played any game and hopefully the whole country will view it as such.”

Ghana tops the standings in Group 5 after recording a win in the first game over Libya. Another win would see the Black Stars grab six points and maintain a hundred percent record.

Lesotho will be playing their first game in the qualifiers after their games against Gabon last week was called off as a result of a strike by air traffic workers in Libreville.
