Medeama's push for second place remained on course after handing dethroned champions, Berekum Chelsea a 2-1 beating in the Glo Premier League at the Tarkwa T&A Park on Wednesday.

The Tarkwa side are now sitting third on the standings and just a point behind, Hearts of Oak, who are in second.

Medeama, who finished the game with ten men took the lead from a Kwabena Adusei freekick in the 20th minute that sailed into the Chelsea goal.

But the joy of the home team soon turned red when Larbi Koomson was shown the red card in the 38th minute.

Chelsea equalised six minutes after the break through Eric Agyemang but that lifeline did not last long.

Louis Agyemang restored Medeama's lead in the 54th minute and Medeama held onto that to finish the game as winners.
