At a time of the year when there is no room for any margin of errors, goalkeeper Philemon McCarthy displayed a performance that could dearly cost Hearts of Oak the chance to claim the title in nine days from now.

Hearts of Oak were in a commanding 2-0 lead at the Anane Boateng Stadium and events close by at the Baba Yara Stadium indicated that leaders, AshantiGold were still going to maintain the one-point lead at the summit.

But a stunning come back from Kessben FC ensured that Hearts surrendered their lead and went on to lose the tie 3-2 with McCarthy gifting Kessben the win as he allowed a harmless ball to slip through his arms into goal.

Bismark Idan scored a brace and James Boadu found target for the home team after Mahatma Otoo and Kofi Abanga had given the Phobians a two-nil first half lead.

The Phobians' hopes equaling Asante Kotoko's 21 league titles now looks in danger with two games to go as AshantiGold managed a 1-0 win over Asante Kotoko in Kumasi. Hearts trail the Miners by four points.

And certainly that result boosted the title hopes of AshantiGold who scored through a Frederick Quayeson goal on a day when fans of the defeated side rather celebrated their loss.

However, debutants Aduana Stars kept the pressure on the Miners as they moved second and are three points adrift the leaders after defeating Real Tamale United 2-0 at the Dormaa Park.

All Stars defeated Berekum Arsenals 2-0 to upstage the Gunners from the top four while New Edubiase came from a goal down to beat Heart of Lions 2-1 at the Len Clay Stadium.

Chelsea drew 1-1 with Liberty Professionals at the Golden City Park.

A thrilling survival battle between Great Olympics and Eleven Wise at the El-Wak Stadium ended 1-1 as both teams remain in the bottom three but Olympics will ruin the dropped points as relegation looms over the Blue side of Accra.

Down and out, Hasaacas were defeated for the 17th time this season as they lost 2-0 to King Faisal at the Sekondi Sports Stadium with goals from Emmanuel Odoi and Mickey Ofosu.

Hasaacas will certainly know their compatriots for Division One by the end of the penultimate round of games.
