Jennifer Mensah Adjei scored in the 78th minute as Soccer Intellectuals pipped Immigration Ladies FC 1-0 on match-day 7 of the Women’s Premier League at Mcdan La Town Park on Saturday.

The first half produced no goals from both sides, however, Soccer Intellectuals’ Mary Essiful and Moussirietou Adina-Akpo were gifted with golden opportunities to give their side the lead, but Immigration ladies’ goalie Mary Neequaye was on hand to deny the visitors the lead.

Both sides matched into the second half with no lead, and when it appeared the match would end barren, Mensah Adjei capitalized on a defensive blunder from Immigration ladies to fetch the lead for her side inside 78 minutes.

With 12 minutes to end regulation time, Immigration Ladies mounted pressure to draw parity, but the Soccer Intellectuals’ defense were on alert to defend the 1-0 score line.

The victory gives Soccer Intellectuals’ 12 points, having won four and lost three whiles Immigration are still stuck on five points with only one win in the first round. Mary Neequaye of Soccer Intellectuals was named NASCO player of the match.
