Ghana could complete Africa’s list of representatives for the inaugural FIFA U-17 World Cup tomorrow.

The concluding fixtures on the continent would be played for two of the three available places at the World Cup with Ghana, just a game away from landing one of the spots. Nigeria have already sealed a place at the World Cup.

The Black Maidens just need to pull a draw against DR Congo on Sunday in the return leg.

The female U-17 team, the Black Maidens inched further closer to a debut World Cup after thumping their opponents 8-0 in the first leg of the final qualifier.

Ghana would be without Elizabeth Cudjoe and Ellen Coleman after both players were sent off the confrontational first leg.

Despite their absence, Black Maidens coach, Abraham Allotey remains confident in the abilities of his girls and sees Ghana earning a place in New Zealand for the World Cup.

Abraham Allotey, chooses not to get carried away by the first leg result and says Ghana would battle for an away win.

“We are not getting complacent with them (DR Congo) because we thrashed them 8-0. They are playing at home and the crowd would be behind them.

“We have a good first leg result but we would still play to win,” the Ghana coach said.

Africa has three places at the World Cup to be hosted by New Zealand from October 30 to November 16, 2008.
