Mahatma caps Ghana call up with a goal

It has been an eventful week for Mahatma Otoo who scored a goal for Hearts of Oak in the Glo Premier League to cap his first senior call up into the Ghana squad.

The Hearts of Oak striker, who was included in the 24-man squad announced by Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah on Tuesday helped the Phobians to a 3-1 win against Berekum Arsenals on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The win, which lifts the Phobians to the 12th position sees them gradually climb out of the relegation zone in the league as they are now four points clear of the drop.

Romeo Abban put Hearts in front after 28 minutes before Esme Mends made it 2-0 in the 61st minute.

The Gunners pulled one back from the spot through former Hearts winger Douglas Nkrumah.

Otoo, with two minutes to end the game scored the third goal for the Phobians, who have now picked up seven points from a possible nine in the second round of the league.
