It was a day when every Ghana touch of the ball looked to be heading towards goal.

A selfless performance attracted the cheers of the crowd from the blast of the referees whistle to the end as the Black Stars qualified for the quarter-finals of the African Cup of Nations having beaten Morocco 2-0 in Group A’s final game.

Claude Le Roy, who has consistently been on his feet every time Ghana has played, says the performance of his team on the evening was the best since taking over the job of head coach of the team two years ago.

"For me, it's the best game we've played since I've been in Ghana. They played so well and were so dedicated. There was a huge solidarity between them."

And the coach says commitment was the driving force behind the Black Stars victory.

“The players' application of our plan was exact and I must congratulate them for that.

"The dedication of the team was 100 per cent today and that was telling in our performance,” he says.

Ghana only needed a draw to go through to the next stage of the tournament. But Le Roy was not prepared to gamble on that.

"It is not our style to go for only a point when we can as well fight for all the three.

"We didn't want to take chances and wait for another result to know we have qualified; so we took our destiny into our hands and the boys' reaction was apt."
