Sulley Muntari remains central to Ghana, who are seeking to go a step better at the 2008 African Cup of Nations than the previous tournament.

Ghana went out in the group stage of the 2006 African Cup of Nations hosted by Egypt. But the Black Stars are hopeful of making it into the last eight at this year’s tournament.

And before the Black Stars take to the field for Thursday evening’s second Group A game against Namibia at the Ohene Djan Stadium, Claude Le Roy has blown the horn, praising the midfielder for his qualities.

Sulley’s last-gasp strike on the opening day of the tournament on Sunday helped Ghana to a 2-1 win over Guinea and such is the quality that fascinates Le Roy.

"There's no player like Sulley in the world," the Ghana coach told AFP at the team hotel on Tuesday.

"I'm not saying he's the best in the world, but that he's got qualities that set him apart. He's very strong technically, and likes always to battle."

Claude Le Roy says: "I've been really impressed with the side, they're very strong in spirit and there's a good balance in the team."

However, against Namibia, who picked up the heaviest defeat in the tournament’s history, after their 5-1 defeat to Morocco on Monday, Le Roy remains cautious of Arie Schans’ Brave Warriors.

"They had three of their first team players missing due to suspension for their first match, so it'll be completely different against us.”
