Johannesburg has been named as the host city for the rescheduled African Youth Championship, the Confederation of African Football confirmed on Tuesday.

Ghana would defend the continental title won two years ago in Rwanda when the competition begins in Group B Cameroon, Nigeria and the Gambia.

Caf said in a statement the eight-nation tournament will now run from April 17-May 1, a month later than initially planned.

South Africa were awarded the right to host the African Youth Championship in mid-March after Caf moved the tournament for U-20 players from the conflict-hit Libya.

South Africa replaces Libya in Group A alongside Mali, Lesotho and Egypt.

The the top two teams from each group qualifies for the semifinals with all four semifinalists sealing their slots as Africa's representatives at the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Colombia, which begins in late July.
