Immigrations Ladies suffered a 1-0 defeat at home to Soccer Intellectuals in their opening game of the Ghana Women’s Premier League.

A volley kick from Linda Addai broke the deadlock in the 63rd minute of the second half to put the visitors in front.

The “Service ladies” were unable to convert numerous chances in front of goal and their first defeat of the season was confirmed after their struggle for the equalizer proved futile.

The hosts made an encouraging start to the game and Faustina Kyere fired early notices to coach Selassie Pentem’s side with her threatening delivery from dead-ball situations.

Immigrations goalkeeper goalkeeper, Patricia Mantey had to be alert to tip over Some dangerous chances created by the front-liners of Soccer Intellectuals.

However, she was beaten later when her defender left Linda Addai unmarked in the penalty area. Matilda Damoah sent in a long range kick from the right as it was met by the towering defender to put Soccer Intellectuals ladies in front.

Immigrations Ladies, though, responded well and had two opportunities to level but could not found the back of the net.

With this game slipping away, Immigrations Ladies has a huge task ahead in their next game while Soccer Intellectuals Ladies march on in pursuit of more success in match day 2.

Defender Linda Amoako was adjudged the NASCO Woman of the Match.
