Hearts of Oak scored in either half to beat Medeama SC 2-0 on match day 29 of the Ghana Premier League at the Accra Sports stadium on Sunday.

Salifu Ibrahim and Benjamin Afutu were heroes for the Phobians as they opened a three point gap at the top of the Premier League table.

Winger Ibrahim took advantage of Afriyie Barnieh’s effort to slot home the opener – he was clinical inside the box as his low shot sailed past Medeama goalkeeper Frank Boateng.

Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Richard Atta pulled a brilliant save in the 29th minute to deny Abass Mohammed a goal as his header from a well taken free-kick taken from the right side, bounced on the turf.

The Phobians doubled their lead through Benjamin Afutu on the hour mark.

The former Karela United man headed home a beautifully floated free kick to make it 2-0 for Hearts of Oak.

In other results - Bechem United finally returned to winning ways with a 2-0 win against Berekum Chelsea at the Fosu Gyeabuor Park at Bechem. Clinton Duodu and Emmanuel Annor scored to restore some pride for the Hunters.

In Obuasi, Seth Osei scored in the 54th minute to give AshantiGold a crucial 1-0 win against Ebusua Dwarfs at the Len Clay stadium.

The provider later turned scorer nine minutes into the second half. The latter scored from the spot to give the Ogya lads a home win to stay in eight place after 29 League matches.

Dreams FC picked a point at Sogakope against WAFA at the Red Bull arena. The Academy boys were for revenge after falling 3-0 to the Still Believe lads in the first round of the season. It took Augustine Boakye to score the opener in the 41st minute as he drilled home a low shot from Lawrence Agyekum – but Ali Huzaif equalized for Dreams FC.
