Hearts end 2012 in the relegation zone

Hearts of Oak have slipped into the relegation zone of the Glo Premier League just about halfway into the season after losing 3-1 to 10-man Medeama.

The Phobians after Sunday's result at the t the Accra Sports Stadium extended their winless run to six games and finish 2012 in the drop zone.

Medeama, who lead the standings jumped into the lead in the 5th minute when Joseph Gordon scored but Hearts soon drew level through Mahatma Otoo three minutes later.

Six minutes later, Medeama were back in front when former Hearts of Oak midfielder Eric Nyarko stunned his old side to give the Tarkwa side a 2-1 lead.

In the 25th minute, Mohammed Tanko was dismissed for a bad challenge on Otoo.

Despite the numerical advantage in Hearts' favour, it was the visitors who showed much determination to win all three points as they went into the break leading.

Ten minutes after the restart and Gordon grabbed a brace when he let go 35-yard shot past goalkeeper Tetteh Lugard to give Medeama a comfortable 3-1.

The Phobians will be hoping for a better fortunes in the New Year as they sit 14th on the standings going into 2013.
