New Hearts of Oak CEO Fred Crentsil sets himself the lofty target of making the Phobians a continental powerhouse.

The Board of Directors on Monday confirmed the former St. Mirren boss as the chief executive.

Crentsil, is not only obsessed with dominating the domestic scene but returning Hearts of Oak to the glory days of African club success in 2000 and 2005 when the Phobians won the Champions League and the Caf Cup competitions in that order.

“Currently there appears to be a dark thunder cloud looming over us because of our position on the league table. But with the never say die spirit, we might find it is just a light rain that brings the tidings of a rainbow.”

The new man admits to that team work and prudent management would help his administration achieve such success as he paid glowing tribute to his predecessors for their contributions.

For a club which is endured enough controversy and tirades between management and supporters of the running of the team, Crentsil insists he would run an open-door policy.

“I came into office with open arms and a clean conscience to serve Accra Hearts of Oaks,” he said.

Board Chairman of the club, Commodore Mensah is convinced that the club has found a suitable candidate to steer them to success.

“Fred Crentsil has the guts to meet up with all these challenges…This year we do not care how he does it [referring to the league title]. It’s a challenge we are throwing to him, so that we give to the club a fitting centenary present,” Mr. Mensah said.

Hearts of Oak, who occupy the 8th position play Bechem Chelsea at at the Ohene Djan Stadium on Wednesday in the Glo Premier League, their first home game since the induction of their new CEO.
