Ghana U-20 Coach Sellas Tetteh has been appointed as a caretaker coach of the senior national team of Sierra Leone.

Tetteh who was recommended to the Sierra Leonean Football Association by the GFA will be in charge of the Leone Stars on a three- month contract.

The 58-year old’s first match in charge of the Leone Stars will be an African Cup of Nations qualifier against champions Ivory Coast on 5 September at a yet to be determined venue.

The former Black Stars and Rwanda coach will also be in charge of Sierra Leone's first 2018 World Cup qualifying fixtures home and away to Chad in early October.

Tetteh will continue in the role if Sierra Leone progresses to the second round of the qualifiers where they will face Egypt in November.

The former Liberty Professionals head coach masterminded Ghana’s success in the 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup which saw the Black Satellites emerge as the first African team to win the competition.

Sellas Tetteh previously coached the national under-17 in 2001, U-23 in 2003 and was appointed as assistant coach of the Black Stars in 2008 before moving to coach the national team of Rwanda.

He later returned to manage the Black Satellites for the 2015 African Youth Championship in Senegal and the 2015 FIFA U20 World Cup in New Zealand.

Ghana were bronze medalists in Senegal and were knocked out of the U-20 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
