Ghana has dropped a place down in the current edition of the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking released today but still maintains a place amongst the top 20 sides.

The ranking shows that Ghana hasn’t made any considerable progress since last month. However, the Black Stars would enter Friday’s 2010 Africa Nations Cup and World Cup qualifier against Libya still boosted by the top 20 position against a side ranked 70 places below.

The Black Stars now sit at the 20th position on the world ranking table with an accumulated build up of 864 points.

The Black Stars still managed to hold onto second position on the African ranking table despite losing 28 points from the August ranking.

Cameroon still stay tops in Africa followed by Ghana at the number two position. Egypt, Ivory Coast and Nigeria follow Ghana in that order.

Ghana and Cameroon still remain Africa’s only presence within the top 20 dominated by Europe.

According to FIFA, the line-up at the top could change dramatically over the next few weeks as the various continents engage in the preliminary World Cup qualifiers.

New European Champions, Spain are still leaders followed Italy who leapfrogged by Germany to the second position. The Germans drop to third with the Dutch.
