The planned international friendly between Ghana and Jamaica originally scheduled for October 14 at the Brisbane Road, the home of English side, Leyton Orient has been called off.

The Ghana Football Association today confirmed the decision at a media briefing in Accra.

The decision to put off the game was after match organisers said they had been unable to find a ground to host the game after Leyton Orient withdrew permission on security grounds.

Explaining the reasons behind the decision, FA Executive Committee member, Randy Abbey stated that the London Metropolitan Police stated that it needed a 35-day notice to arrange for security for this particular game against the normal 28 days notice served prior to matches.

Black Stars coach, Claude Le Roy told the media that with the latest decision, the national team would not be involved in any game until the four-nation tournament planned for November.

“There’s no plan. The plan was to play against Jamaica. We’ve tried to find teams to play but its not been possible.

“Now, our plan is the November 17-21 date, that’s with the four-nation tournament and the Olympic game against Nigeria.

“The priority for the next game is the Olympic team.”

The game against Jamaica was expected to have formed part of the Black Stars’ preparations ahead of the African Cup of Nations, which Ghana would be hosting in four major cities.

Ghana, four-time champions by virtue of being host of the competition gain an automatic qualification slot for the 16-nation tournament.
